MAX: JOURNEY TO FREEDOM is the memoir of Mostafa “Max” Sotodeh, an Iranian man, the youngest of 12 children from the same mother — and 18 of the same father — who flees his home in 1983, in the wake of revolution and war. He spends the next several years in jails and as a refugee across three continents, finally arriving in the United States in 1989, where he eventually made himself a home and a life, but without his family, especially his beloved mother, Sogra.
